James Kovac is TradeWinds’ creative director and branding strategist extraordinaire. His primary focus is on brand building.
He loves to dive into a concept and engage all parties involved to pursue consensus.
Kovac believes in strategic planning by collaboration and open communication. He relishes developing partnerships that evolve over time and problem-solve together. He is comfortable producing creative solutions in all relevant media, including print, outdoor, television and interactive.
Kovac is a graduate of Colorado State University with a concentration on Graphic Design. He is also a fan of numbers and science with a background in engineering and mathematics.
He started his career in publication design with Sports and Fitness Publishing where he art directed three separate magazines that went on to win many design awards. From there he went to Crown Media where he became a key team member that transitioned The Hallmark Channel from a small cable channel to an international Channel and Crown Media into a publicly held company.
He later transitioned from Denver to San Francisco to help launch Revolution a new music magazine/website that was on the cusp of emerging new media and technology, but returned to Denver in 2000.
For the last ten years he has worked with Forest City Stapleton, Brookfield Residential (Midtown, Solterra), New Town Builders (Stapleton, Highland Village, Ridge Gate), Larson Development, Celebrity Communities (Pradera, Heritage Hills), Berkeley Homes and Standard Pacific Homes.
He has produced positioning concept documents, multi-page brochures, packaging, sales environments, print advertising, Web sites and web-based advertising.
